Pilates is.... Pilates is a form of exercise that uses your body as the “weight force” to strengthen your core muscles of your body. Your mind is utilised as you concentrate on each muscle to create movement. For those who want to exercise smarter, not harder. And for those who want to acquire body leanness , improve posture and condition muscles. Pilates helps you;
The Method In a one hour session, a Pilates' instructor will work with you
on a one to one basis or in small group. The
instructor will guide you through specific body movements
on the mat or with specialised equipment, including a reformer, chair
and a spine corrector .
Origin of Pilates The Pilates exercises were developed by Joseph Pilates for injured World War I soldiers and later embraced by generations of dancers to condition their bodies for strenuous performances and prevent injuries. Today, Pilates is used by rugby teams, chronic ill sufferers and those who want a lean, flexible and strong body. Currently there are several styles of Pilates developed by some of the World's best Pilates' teachers. The Stotts Pilates is used by JM Pilates Studio. |
